Manual Instructions

📌Nature of the protagonist

Introducing our proud collection named “The General With Motor” you should not miss.

On April 12, 1862, Union spies, led by James J. Andrews, commandeered “The General” in an attempt to disrupt Confederate supply lines by destroying tracks and telegraph lines. The locomotive was pursued by a group of Confederate soldiers, including conductor William Fuller, who pursued it by foot, handcar, and eventually by commandeering another locomotive, “The Texas.”   After a dramatic chase spanning miles of track, “The General” ran out of fuel and water, and Andrews and his men were captured. Most of the Union spies were executed, while some managed to escape or were later exchanged as prisoners of war.   “The General” was eventually returned to service and continued to operate on the Western & Atlantic Railroad until it was retired in 1891. It was later restored and preserved as a historic artifact, eventually becoming part of the collection at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History in Kennesaw, Georgia.
